Suspended Dessert Bar

Yum Yum! Who doesn’t love cupcakes? We know it’s Winter time, but we thought we would write about something totally different! We are loving these suspended cupcakes! It is an unsual way to have your dessert buffet. Would you try it? We are thinking maybe it would look pretty cool suspended from a low ceiling indoors!!!

Succulents aren’t just for the backyard

The weather is stormy outside and we love staying indoors this time of year and looking at cute DIY ideas for our clients. Why not give your guests plantable succulents! Succulents are easy plants to grow because they are drought resistant and can withstand colder climates better than some other plants. We like these easy DIY succulent wedding favors which can double as place cards too. The succulents were placed in tea cups that can be gathered from thrift stores, flea markets, garage and estate sales. The more you mismatch them, the better!

Here is another example of what you can do with succulents. They are great for decorating and the possibilites are endless. Check out these succulents in cigar boxes. What is there not to love about these?

Jello Shots Just Aren’t for Frat Parties

Jello Shots!

Yummy! It’s still very nice in certain parts of California and we love when things aren’t the typical wedding reception food….we have seen doughnuts, chocolate fountains and love the idea of jello shots! We found these online at Martha Stewart Weddings and would love to try them!

What do you think about this idea for a wedding?

Let them eat cake!

Anybody who knows our lead planner and designer, Gina Lett, knows that she loves impressionist paintings and stained glass. While Team Gina was researching on the Internet for ideas for an event, we found Maggie Austin Cakes in Washington, DC. Maggie has the most creative and gorgeous cakes we have ever seen! Gina chose this design as her favorite, but you can check out more of Maggie’s designs on her website, right here.

All Things Vintage

Team Gina loves all things vintage! Looking for a cool idea for your reception? Tired of the usual wedding favors? The Poetry Store in San Francisco can help you with some great ideas. Silvi Alcivar, the owner of the Poetry Store, travels to events. She sets up a vignette of vintage desks, stationary and typewriters. Guests recite to her a few details about the person they would like a poem written about and in a few minutes, Silvi has typed a custom made poem on vintage paper and inserted into a vintage envelope. What a unique and fun wedding favor!

Designing Your Own Unique Ring

Team Gina is always on the hunt for all things that are unique and eye catching.  We had a couple that designed and crafted their own rings at the Wedding Ring Experience in Emeryville, CA.  We were so intrigued by this concept that we thought we would do a little bit more research on this.

If you are into repurposing or recycling, this is the place for you!  All the metals at the workshop are recycled and the most popular metals are white gold, followed by platinum and yellow gold.

It’s not a jewelry making class; couples will work together on each other’s rings under a jewelers’ guidance.  What else is included the class?  You will receive assistance in designing your rings, a disposable camera documenting your day, both your rings, a working lunch and a bottle of champagne after you are done with creating your rings!  It takes about approximately 5 to 6 hours to complete the process.

Y Studio Photography

A fellow wedding colleague, Barbara Yasuhura at Y Studio Photography wrote a great article in her blog talking about incorporating DIY elements to your wedding day and the need for a wedding planner for day of coordination.  It’s a great read and BTW, Barbara is an awesome photographer!
